Program Overview
Students must have completed a prior degree to apply for the Park Ranger Law Enforcement Academy (PRLEA). This certificate has dual certification in both Minnesota POST training and Federal Type II commission. Most commonly accompanying a law enforcement based degree, this program is one of only seven federal programs in the nation. (Previously titled Seasonal Park Law Enforcement Ranger Training or SPLERT).

Traditionally the PRLEA certificate accompanies a law enforcement based degree program. This combination allows students to complete requirements for both a state and federal law enforcement position. Minnesota careers include Police Officer, Sheriff, Highway Patrol, and Conservation Officer. Federal Careers include National Park Ranger and Forest Ranger.
