The paramedic program will prepare future field clinicians for a successful career in Emergency Medical Services or an associated medical field.
Guiding Principles
“To prepare Paramedics who competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior), learning domains to enter the profession.”
- Develop effective communication, interpersonal relationships, problem-solving, decision-making, and critical-thinking skills of pre-hospital care in future leaders of EMS.
- Promote professionalism.
- Promote an appreciation for and participation in lifelong learning activities in education in the State of Minnesota, the United States, and globally.
- Continually assess and improve the scope, depth, and quality of the program offerings.
- Use and promote a research-oriented model for the study and development of the EMS field.
- Offer an academic framework for EMS offerings in order to facilitate and provide transferable college credit which will encourage and enhance academic degree completion by current field clinicians, educators, and managers.
- Adhere to the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and the Emergency Medical Service Regulatory Board (EMSRB) standards and objectives to assure proficient entry-level paramedics through nationally recognized written and practical skill examinations.

Outcome Results
CAAHEP-accredited Paramedic educational programs and CoAEMSP Letter of Review (LoR) Paramedic educational programs track and report outcome measures annually to the Committee on Accreditation for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).

Scholarship Opportunities
The Minnesota Paramedic Scholarship is a temporary scholarship program for Minnesota residents completing a paramedic diploma or degree.
It was passed during the 2023 Minnesota Legislative session to increase the number of licensed paramedics in Minnesota. A one-time appropriation for $3 million will provide up to 600 scholarships of $5000 each starting Fall 2024 to be awarded by June 30, 2026.
Who is eligible?
Eligible students are Minnesota residents attending an eligible paramedic program. Students must be taking paramedic program courses to receive the scholarship.
