Rainy River Housing

Rainy Hall is an apartment complex with furnished two bedroom apartments available for you to lease. A year-long contract is required.

Priority is given to full-time students with 12 or more credits. Part-time students with 6 or more credits may lease apartments when space is available. An accessible unit is available if you have a mobility limiting disability. Up to four students are assigned to each two bedroom apartment. Roommate preferences and interests may be indicated on the residence hall contract and are taken into consideration when apartments are assigned. You can request a single room, depending on availability, for an additional fee.

Rainy Hall is conveniently located within walking distance of banks, hospital, clinic, fast-food and regular restaurants, grocery store, discount stores, and motels. On-site recreational facilities include a volleyball court, basketball court, bicycle trail, one-mile lighted cross-country ski trail, and disc golf course!

Choosing to live in Rainy Hall allows you the convenience of making one payment per semester for housing expenses. Rent per semester includes heat, electricity, water, sewer, garbage service, laundry facility use, wireless Internet access and basic cable television. Rent payments are made prior to the start of each semester at the Cashier’s Office.

When can I move in? Fall Semester, 2025:

  • Students can move into Rainy Hall Friday, August 22 – Sunday, August 24 from 9 am – 5 pm. Contact the Housing Director by phone at 218-598-9330 or via email at (tyler.pichen@minnesotanorth.edu)with the day that you plan to move in and estimated time of arrival when your travel plans have been made.

The priority deadline to apply for housing is Monday, July 1st, 2025.

$2,300 per Semester (double bedroom)
$3,100 per Semester (single bedroom)

Meal Plan: The college is working on securing a food service vendor for Fall 2025. Our plan is to have mandatory meal balance options for housing residents of $600, $800, and $1,000.

What is included:

  • Bedrooms: two extra-long twin beds, two dressers, and one desk/chair
  • Living Room: sofa, chair, two end tables, coffee table, dining table/two chairs
  • Kitchens: stove, refrigerator and dishwasher
  • Utilities are included in the rent. Long distance calls may be made with your personal telephone credit card or prepaid phone card.
  • Free parking is available adjacent to the building. A limited number of outdoor electrical outlets are available.
  • Laundry facility, located on the first floor for resident use is included in the cost.
  • Computers are available in the lobby for resident use. Wireless Internet connections are also available throughout the entire hall.
  • Game Room: pool and ping-pong tables, projector TV, vending machines, DVD player.

  • The Residential Life Director is a professional employee of the college manages the overall operation of the residence hall. The Director is available to the residents during regular business hours from 9:30AM-5:30PM.
  • Resident Advisors (RA’s) are student Residential Life Staff who live in the apartments. The RA’s assist residents with the daily adjustments to campus and residence hall life. RA’s staff the Rainy Hall office from 7 PM – 11 PM, Sunday through Thursday and from 8 PM – midnight Friday and Saturday nights.

Hibbing Housing

Great Apartments

Our housing offers a great student experience.

Each apartment is a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom suite, furnished with beds, desks, dressers, book shelves, and walk-in closets. You and your roommate(s) will enjoy the large kitchen/living room commons area which includes a couch, chairs, and tables.

Residential Life plays a vital role in the success of the Hibbing campus and its students by providing quality facilities, personnel, services, and programs which contribute to the mission of the College. Within the residential environment individuals are challenged and supported to develop into productive community members who are prepared to enrich society.

Housing Application Steps

  1. Complete your college application.
  2. Complete the Housing Application online through E-Services.

Log in with your StarID and password. (If you don’t remember your StarID and/or password, you can request password recovery. (select “Reset My Password”)

Select the “Housing & Dining” tab on the left side to launch the housing application portal.

Select the Academic Year you are applying for. (NOTE: The application for the fall semester opens up each year on December 1st the year prior)

Follow the instructions on the page. (NOTE: You may have to wait a few minutes while your account is being created before accessing the housing module)

Submit $250 deposit which will be available to pay 2-3 business days after application completion through E-Services.

In mid-July, housing staff will make room assignments and send out housing placement letters. Move-in dates are August 22nd, 23rd, and 24th. More information will be provided in the housing placement letters.
