Why Minnesota North?
An international student is anyone who is enrolled at Minnesota North College who is not a U.S. citizen, an immigrant (permanent resident) or a refugee. An international student who is not already in the U.S. on an F1 visa will need to apply for one in their home country. Minnesota North accepts new international students as well as transfer students from other U.S. colleges or universities.

The steps for becoming a student.
Apply
Before you begin the application, you will be prompted to create your StarID and password. Be sure to select “International Visa Holder or Seeker-type: F1 Non-Immigrant Academic Student” on the application.
Required Application Fee
For your application to be processed, Minnesota North requires a non-refundable $20 application fee. This fee can be paid online after you apply, through your E-Services account.
Submit Required Documentation
Submit a copy of your passport demographics page (with photo, name, and personal information), official high school/secondary school transcripts to Minnesota North.
- If your official transcript is not in English, also submit a certified translated copy.
- If you have earned college/university credits from any non-U.S. institutions and would like to transfer credits to Minnesota North College, purchase a course-by-course evaluation from ECE or WES and have the evaluation sent directly to Minnesota North.
- Complete the International Student Agreement and Certificate of Financial Responsibility Forms.
- Submit your Immunization Record by completing Section 3 of the Immunization Form.
Please email all completed forms and copies of required documents as separate attachments in a single email to william.marshall@minnesotanorth.edu.
Provide proof of English Proficiency: If you are from a non-English speaking country, or graduated from a non-English speaking school, you must submit proof of English proficiency. Minnesota North requires a score of 61 on the internet based TOEFL examination. Minnesota North also accepts the MELAB (75 or better), IELTS (5.5 or better), PTE Academic (44 or better) and Duolingo (95 or better) and SAT (Reading sub-score of 22+ or Critical Reading sub-score of 400+). Students who graduated from a U.S. high school or have completed 24+ college/university credits from an accredited U.S. institution with a 2.0+ GPA are exempt from testing.
Once Minnesota North has reviewed all your documentation, the Admissions office will issue you a Form I-20 “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status” and acceptance letter by email.
You will need to print and sign your I-20 and pay the USCIS $350 I-901 SEVIS fee at fmjfee.com and apply for your F-1 visa.

Apply for Scholarships

Apply for Housing
Students have the option to live on campus. Students must complete the online housing application and pay the deposit to secure housing at their selected campus. Housing is offered on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Pay Your Tuition, Housing & Health Insurance charges
Payment of tuition and housing should be made before the start of each academic semester. Students who have not paid or set-up a payment plan may be dropped from courses.
To help you meet your educational expenses, we are proud to offer the Minnesota North Payment Plan – a convenient, interest free, payment plan. This is NOT a loan program. You have no debt, there are no interest or finance charges and there is no credit check.
Health Insurance
All international students are required to purchase the Minnesota State system health insurance policy unless the students’ sponsoring government or agency certifies in writing that coverage is in effect under a plan provided by the sponsoring government or agency.
Payment for annual Health Insurance coverage must be made in full prior to your arrival on campus each academic year.
