Program Overview
The Pre-Social Work Pathway AS offers students the opportunity to complete an Associate of Science degree with credits that directly transfer to designated Social Work bachelor’s programs at Minnesota State Universities. The program teaches students key concepts in psychology, human development, social welfare, and diversity, while also emphasizing experiential learning and the values and history of the social work profession.

Reasons to Attend Minnesota North
Transfer easily.
As a Transfer Pathway program, the Pre-Social Work A.S. degree transfers seamlessly to Minnesota State universities. Graduates will go on to complete the Bachelor of Social Work or a higher degree. The curriculum has been specifically designed so that students completing this pathway degree and transferring to one of the seven Minnesota State universities enter the university with junior-year status.

Students in this program enjoy smaller class sizes and instructors who know their name and are invested in their success. A student can attend the core human services/social work transfer classes easily either in-person at their preferred campus location or online.

Students have the opportunity to put their skills into practice, gaining real world experiences to build their resume at a variety of human service agencies, hospitals, nursing homes, schools, treatment centers, and public services related business or industry.
