When Clare Waldoch was growing up in Elk River, Minnesota, she didn’t imagine she’d one day be helping fight wildfires from the ground- supporting aircraft that scoop thousands of gallons of water from lakes to douse flames.
Itasca alumni Kaarl Gaalaas and Tyler Hasbargen turned their passion for the outdoors into firefighting and forestry careers, using their training to take on wildland fires across the country.
Minnesota North College will launch five new career programs in Fall 2025 to meet regional employment demands in northeastern Minnesota. These programs build student skills and place graduates directly into good-paying jobs that are available now.

The 2024 Paramedic Class of 2024 celebrated their graduating with a pinning ceremony at Minnesota North-Mesabi Range Eveleth. These graduates enter an important field with lots of demand for emergency workers.
