About This Program

One of the most important natural resources, water needs to be monitored, tested, and recycled. Vermilion’s Water Quality Science and Water Operations program focuses on water use in wastewater, water treatment, facility water systems, and water usage. You will learn lab testing, equipment maintenance, and additional skills required for a Minnesota State Class D Water and Wastewater Operator license.

Options for a degree and class D license

Upon graduation, you will have various careers that you will be eligible for through both water sciences and your class D water/wastewater operator’s license. Some potential fields include Water Operations, Wastewater Treatment, Environmental Laboratory, Equipment Maintenance, Public Health Systems, and Environmental Engineering Technicians.

Transferability

Students can transfer into a variety of programs related to Water Sciences to further their degree and open additional career options. Specifically Vermilion has transfer agreements set up with the following schools:
