Program Overview
Students interested in coaching will find a benefit in adding the coaching certificate to their degree program. With courses in coaching theory, communication, first aid, injury care, and weight training/conditioning, students will gain a working knowledge of how a team functions.

Learn to lead and foster a team.
The coaching certificate is designed to help students interested in sports teams specialize their skill set. While this is a stand-alone certificate, the majority of students will use this to bolster their degree and resume. This certificate commonly complements these programs:
- Education
- Exercise Science
- Business Management
- Liberal Arts and Sciences
Get certified to be a head varsity coach.
The Coaching Certificate program prepares students to be a head varsity coach in the Minnesota public school system and meets Minnesota State High School League requirements. While this coaching certification may or may not be a requirement for head coaching in other states it is strongly recommended.
