Students and faculty from the Electrical Maintenance and Construction program, along with those from Hibbing High School, were present alongside Habitat for Humanity families, board members, staff, elected officials, the Hibbing Foundation, the Applied Learning Institute, and school administrators to celebrate the groundbreaking of the latest Habitat for Humanity home in Hibbing. This year’s new home will be located on the lot adjacent to last year’s build, and attendees were able to tour the completed home from the previous season during the event.

“The Habitat for Humanity partnership is important to the Electrical Maintenance program because it gives our students real-world, hands-on experiences. At the same time, it allows our program an opportunity to give back to the community,” commented Steve Oberstar, Instructor in the Electrical Maintenance Program.

The Electrical Maintenance Program at Minnesota North College – Hibbing Campus has been involved with the Habitat for Humanity program since 2006 and has helped complete the electrical work for at least one home each year since the partnership began.
