Title IX
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (20 U.S.C. § 1681) is an all encompassing federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex of students and employees of educational institutions, including prohibiting sexual harassment, discrimination, assault, dating violence, domestic violence and stalking.

Title IX Coverage.
In accordance with Title IX, Minnesota North College, along with the Minnesota State system of colleges and universities, strictly prohibits discrimination based on sex in all educational programs and activities. At Minnesota North Title IX encompasses a wide range of areas, including—but not limited to—academic programs, admissions, recruitment, financial aid, student life, athletics, fine arts, and employment. While Title IX is often associated with athletics, its scope is much broader. It applies to all educational programs and activities across the college.
Failure to Comply.
Failure to comply with Title IX can result in serious consequences, including the potential loss of all or part of an institution’s federal funding- such as grants, subsidies, and other federal program support. Beyond financial penalties, institutions may also face legal action from individuals seeking remedies for Title IX violations. It is crucial for any institution receiving federal financial assistance to operate in a nondiscriminatory manner. Ensuring compliance with Title IX is a shared responsibility across the entire University community.
Sexual Violence Policy.
Sexual violence is an intolerable intrusion into the most personal and private rights of an individual, and is prohibited at Minnesota North College. Minnesota North College is committed to eliminating sexual violence in all forms and will take appropriate remedial action against any individual found responsible for acts in violation of this policy. Acts of sexual violence may also constitute violations of criminal or civil law, or of other Board Policies that may require separate proceedings. To further its commitment against sexual violence, Minnesota North College provides reporting options, an investigative and disciplinary process, prevention training, and other related services as appropriate.
